Top Ten Tuesday #1 10 ways to get down (and possibly stay down) during covid-19

Wanna have a lockdown friendly jive?

A groove with minimal space to move?

Or a dance around the drawers for your pants?

Well fear not because us lot have got 10 top ways to make you sway and hit that funky sore spot.

1. Free DJ, Producer and musician streams

Every DJ and his Grandmother are streaming during the lockdown. D-Nice bucked the trend earlier garnering 100k views and a slew of celebrity clientele tuning in From Alicia Keys to Usher and more. But artists and DJs from all scenes are making themselves heard, from A-trak doing weekly drops to producers battling it out for beat supremacy Like the 90s master songwriter Babyface taking on the legendary New Jack godfather Teddy Riley. Also youtube has a lot of live streams from many famous musicians like John Legend and Blake Shelton under the #Stayhome tag on youtube, but older artists like Gary Barlow who dominated the 90s are coming out of the woodwork so you can relive the magic. Plus there have been a few streaming festivals featuring many artists in different locations performing on the same day and best of all, mostly all the content on youtube is up to watch and re-watch at your pleasure.

2.Revisiting your old (or parents old) cd collection

Everyone currently in your household has probably owned at least one cd in their life and you are no exception. There is a reason your hairbrush got drenched as you sang Wannabe by Spicegirls, or your cd player speakers got a thrashing from something by Prodigy or Pearl Jam (thanks Hit Machine). Maybe you probably scratched a copy of Jagged Little Pill or Meteora beyond recognition? If it wasn't for CDs you would've been stuck with the radio, not have heard that sweet Todd Terry Remix and not have a box lying in the garage full of music from your childhood. That being said, maybe it's time to clean up the garage, pull out your old collection and crank it up as you finally get down to cleaning your garage (or basement or possibly attic).

3.Find an old hard drive or MP3 player.

Remember when you downloaded a bunch of viruses, and some music and a few more viruses off Limewire? Well maybe you might still have a hard drive lying about filled with classic old mp3 files, likely in 128k. If you do, dust it off (and make sure you rid it of any nasty .exe files) and relive your youth in not so glorious 128kbps. Don't blame me for the low quality, I'm just the messenger. Alternatively you should be able find, (barring the meme mp3s) the titles on Spotify, which leads me to the next point.

4. Build a playlist of favourite songs on spotify.

Self explanatory really, plus it saves you having to post your favourite songs or albums on Facebook and get chastised for being the umpteenth person to do so instead.

5. Pull out your old guitar, bust out your piano or take up that instrument you always wanted to.

What's more to say. No time like the present when going outside has limitations.

6. Get your Karaoke on

Don't have a karaoke machine?  Just hook up a mic to your pc or laptop, search "your favourite song" + Karaoke and away you go.

7. Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero anyone?

Ever heard of Clone Hero? Go to https://clonehero.net/ and now you have a free version of Guitar Hero with every song you could possibly imagine and the ability to edit and add the songs you can't. Just get a PS2 Guitar Hero Guitar with a PS2 to USB adaptor Found here or a USB Guitar and you are set.

As for DDR it's basically the same go but their alternative is available for free via www.Stepmania.com

8. Support your local retailers trading in store or online during lockdown.

Yes some music stores are still open during lockdown like Beatdisc and Redeye records, and others like Repressed are still running online. So give them a yell and buy a copy of your fave artists latest release. Not only are you supporting local business but you're one of the few things keeping these artists afloat, especially during this time.

9.Make a Mixtape.

I'm not exactly talking cassette tapes but Physical media is what it's about. Dig out a CDr, grab your fave MP3s some paper and Markers and draw up a cool looking cover. Also if you have a special someone maybe you can even write in a special dedication and burn them a copy.

10. Hire some headphones from us.

New Updates and What We're Doing During Lockdown

The current situation has been tough for many. One of the groups hit hardest is the entertainment industry, which has been stopped right in it’s tracks due to virus. Venues across the country, and even around the world have closed until further notice. All the bar staff and security are out of work for now. DJs and bands have lost whole income streams during lockdown and have resorted to streaming to ensure their fans get their fill. Silent rave has been hit, but we are persisting.

As a company, nearly all of our work is via venues, events and private parties and because of this our work has severely decreased. What matters to us most though is the safety of everyone, not only physically, but mentally. We know the lockdown can be tough and it can be difficult being holed up inside your house without being able to get out and party, but we came up with some solution to the current issue plaguing our society.

The first thing many of us want to do once we’re free is party and the laws have slightly relaxed to allow a few close friends over. We’re on a slow path back to something not normal and most of us, now more than ever, at least want to feel, even for a brief moment, is that everything is ok and the world hasn’t come to a complete halt. That’s why we decided to help bring you that moment.

During the lockdown we came up with the Idea of small hires. Instead of having to hire 50 or more headphones, we’re allowing people to hire up to 10 headphones for a night, for an amazing price. The customers so far have been very happy and lucky for you we still have some hires available. All you need to do is contact us for a quote, arrange a pick up and drop off time and we’ll have the headphones ready to go, fully cleaned, charged and sanitised. We can also provide personalised DJ mix services for an extra fee so you can get the real feel of having a DJ in your own home, without having the need of a DJ come to your home. You can be the envy of all your friends with heaps of instagramable pics and you can even get involved with our upcoming #silentdiscochallenge. So stay tuned for that.

On top of staying open and doing small hires during this time we have decided to start a blog to keep you updated with everything that is going down and to help you find ways of bringing the party to your living room. Keep updated with all the latest Silent rave goss, a full history of the company and many great informative posts on staying turned up this lock down.

Times are tough and things appear bad and they could get worse, but having that feeling of something good during the bad, some good memories to share amidst the madness and some way of partying during the lockdown may be imperative for some to maintain our sanity.

That’s why we’re here and that’s why we’ll maintain staying open during the lockdown. Keep updated for future posts and news and feel free to contact us any time for a quote. If we can do one thing during this time, it’s to work together and help each other while keeping apart. You can help us keep going, and we can give you the night of your life… even during lockdown.

And Keep Raving

Another amazing Wollombi Festival goes by. The Rhythm Hut drumming session was a favourite and really got people moving. Something we look forward to every time.

Here’s some pics from earlier. Our favourite had to be when Kallidad took the stage for an encore with Tijuana Cartel to close the main stage.
